The Rover 45 was basically a continuation of the Rover 400, although there was a facelift to keep the model in line with the design of its siblings. After 2001 the Rover 45 was improved, tuned, and tweaked to become the MG-ZS. Rover had several new models in the pipeline at different times, one of which (R30) was originally set to replace the Rover 45 in 2003. However, the plug was pulled on this project when BMW parted ways from the manufacturer.
