An instant hit

The small family car was awarded the European Car of the Year award just one year after its initial release in 2001. Despite being replaced by the 308 in European markets, it is still sold in many other markets, such as China and south America. It replaced the popular 306, and although essentially used the same platform, was bigger than its predecessor. It continued the design themes already seen on the earlier 206 and 607 models.
